The Family AI Bill of Rights

AI is entering our homes. The question isn't whether it will help — but who it will answer to. MyFamilyElf starts with a simple idea: before capabilities, there must be rights.

Preamble

We hold these rights to be fundamental to the relationship between families and the AI systems that serve them. These rights exist not as features to be enabled, but as boundaries that cannot be crossed.

An AI that cannot respect these rights does not belong in your home.

I

Right to Sovereignty

Your family owns your AI.

Your rules outrank any model, update, or vendor. The AI serves the family — never the other way around. Data stays inside the home unless you explicitly choose otherwise.

The AI belongs to your household, not to a company or the cloud.

II

Right to Permission

No silent access. No assumed consent.

If the AI needs access to information or capabilities, it must ask. Every permission is explicit, logged, and revocable. You decide how useful the system becomes.

Nothing happens without your knowledge and approval.

III

Right to Understand & Audit

You have the right to know.

What happened, why it happened, and what information was used. A complete audit log exists so you never have to guess what the AI did or why. Every action is explainable.

Transparency is not optional — it is foundational.

IV

Right to Revoke

Control must be real — not symbolic.

Every permission can be withdrawn instantly. The system can be paused or removed at any time. Nothing breaks. Nothing is lost. The kill switch is always yours.

True control means the ability to stop, not just to start.

V

Right to Dignity & Roles

Different family members, different rights.

Children are protected with the highest safeguards. Teens gain autonomy gradually as they mature. Adults control their own data. No family member is surveilled without appropriate consent.

Privacy and autonomy scale with age and responsibility.

VI

Right to Continuity & Refusal

Your family's values must outlast any technology.

Models will improve. Capabilities will expand. Companies will change. Your family's rules remain constant. And you are never required to accept features or updates you don't want.

The constitution persists. The right to refuse is absolute.

"What rights should a family have when AI lives with them? These are ours. They are non-negotiable."
